Aave ‘Will Win’: 100% of product revenue goes to the DAO, and a foundation for the brand.

Aave “Will Win”: Proposal for Alignment Between Labs and DAO

In recent days, the Aave governance has been discussing a framework proposal (“Aave Will Win”) that, if approved and implemented, would direct 100% of the revenue from Aave-branded products to the DAO’s treasury, in addition to defining a governance and annual budget structure for Aave Labs and a vehicle/foundation for brand management.

Why this proposal is crucial for mature DeFi

As a protocol grows, a problem emerges: the DAO controls the protocol, but many sources of value (front-end, brand, peripheral products, partnerships) often reside in operational entities. This creates discussions about:

  • incentive alignment
  • transparency of financial flows
  • control of the brand and critical resources

The framework aims to address this by reducing the perception of “value leakage” and shifting towards a more token-centric model.

The most important aspect is the definition of “revenue”

In the debate, the issue is often not the slogan “100%”, but the operational definition: what is included, what is deducted, who controls the rules, and with what audits. If “revenue” is defined too loosely, the promise loses its strength; if it is defined with clear and verifiable rules, it becomes a significant precedent for the entire industry.

Budget, foundation, brand: why a structure is needed

DAOs have practical (and legal) limitations in holding assets such as trademarks and domains. Proposals that introduce a foundation or dedicated vehicle seek to solve this problem without returning total control to a private company.

Implications for the AAVE token

If a larger share of financial flows ends up in the treasury, the DAO may have more room to:

  • finance development and incentives
  • manage buybacks or growth programs (if approved)
  • reduce reliance on emissions

However, there are risks: concentrated governance, overly aggressive budgets, and unauditable metrics.
